Music Awards and Life…

So, to get things out of the way, I got nominated for two Niagara Music Awards this year, in the categories of Engineer and Instrumentalist of the year with Chaos Theory, off of the Weathering Storms EP. So yes, I am thrilled because recognition is one of those things that any artist is going after, but…

As much as I am happy about the turnout of events, and I will attend and party and be that guy, I am also fully conscious about the meaning of any award anywhere and in any discipline. There is a lot of work and effort put into every kind of art, let alone passion, resources and time. Because of that it is impossible to judge things objectively in the sense that everyone’s perception of what’s good and bad is slightly different; the beauty of imperfection!

So, having been recognized as one of the best in what I do is more than I need to know that I am doing things right, that even if I don’t get a trophy to take home, I will still be a part of that small group of people who initially qualified to get it in the first place. There is a lot of honour in that and, again, I am super proud!

In other words, this time around there will be winners, but unlike every other aspect in life, the rest will not be losers. Good luck to everyone hoping to reach one or eight awards, Let’s all do stuff together, one day, maybe…
